Bl^nk take pride in the unique craftsmanship that goes into creating our jewellery. You would find our BL^NK handwriting transposed in a full range of products such as earrings, bracelets and necklaces, with each piece being made with only a clamp and agile fingers. As usual we are loving mixing materials and components: vegan leather breading, fine metal chains, glass beads and hand-made tassels are some of our favourite picks! We also add semi-precious stones which we go and hand pick ourselves from all the way over in Jaipur, as its one of the best places in the world to find special gems. Each of our pieces, even the smallest, takes hours to make- but it’s all worth it once we see our pieces worn by our beautiful ladies in the streets of London, Paris and New York.

Evolution of the Gypsy Boho Skirt

Long, floaty and sometimes tiered, the gypsy boho skirt is flattering and easy to wear whilst adding an elegant style to outfits. Originating from the Roma Gypsies, the gypsy boho skirt began to vary in length, colour and pattern once the Roma migrated over the years into Europe and started mixing with other communities. Gradually the loose flowing and less restrictive skirt started captivating women outside of the Roma community and began its debut into fashion history. In the 1960's it became particularly popular during the bohemian hippie movement, an era that changed the face of fashion. People wanted fashion that was unique and they saw the large amount of fabric used to make the gypsy skirt as a big canvas to express themselves on, something we also welcome here at -bl^nk-. After seeing a revival in 2005, and again in the last year or so, the skirt has now become a staple item in women's wardrobes. It looks like the gypsy skirt is here to stay and -bl^nk- are happy to introduce you to our take on this graceful skirt, with fresh prints and shapes for the new ss17 season.

      

French Riviera

A recent trip to the French Riviera left -bl^nk- inspired by its eye-catching architecture. The tall, narrow, pastel coloured buildings have carried through style and glamour from la belle epoque era and we were left in awe of the striking buildings found along the Riviera. Even traces from the baroque architecture that came before la belle epoque are still distinguishable in the streets today, particularly in the detailed railing of balconies that are iconic to French architecture. We have taken inspiration from the intricate detailing of the baroque railings into our ss17 collection, creating dramatic prints and complex embellishment that compliment the classic floaty, laid back -bl^nk- silhouettes.

Digital Printing at -bl^nk-

At bl^nk we take great pride in our production system, having our own factory based in Gurgaon India, enables us to ensure an ethical working environment is put in place. Our Sedex approved production factory holds over 10 different specialist departments with highly skilled employees working on a wide range of crafts such as hand embroidery, bag making and screen printing. We believe it essential that the highest standard of production is put in place for our customers, and from owning our own factory we are privileged to be able to assess this from the very beginning to the end of our production process.

One of our recent investments, in a digital printing machine known as the MONNA LISA® from a highly renowned textile machinery company based in Italy, has made a staggering difference in the quality of our digital printing. 

For all of our digitally printed products, the creation starts with the MONNA LISA®. An advanced machine that can deliver paramount printing on various textiles from linen, wools and silk to name a few, giving us lots of flexibility as a brand to experiment and broaden our range of designs. Also with using this new machine, our skilfully trained graphic design team can now see results that rightfully compliment their admirable designs. Another plus to the MONNA LISA® is alongside its ability for creating refined prints it also pays attention to energy saving and environmental protection, something that is very important to us here at –bl^nk-. It gained approval from the “Green Label” a project promoted by ACIMIT and supported by the Ministry of Economic Development and by the Institute for Foreign Trade. Thus leading to our end products being environmentally conscious and our consumers being able to buy our products worry free.

Beading Embellishment at -bl^nk-

Beading work on garments was one of mankind's first indulgent luxury and remains to be a popular way of embellishing clothes. For our ancestors beading embellishment was seen to be a token of status, using gold bezants, pearls and bright beads on the garments of kings, pharaohs and emperors. 

Beading embellishment plays a big part in Bl^nk clothing, giving a feminine feel and intricate detailing to the collections. We use it to give our customers the same luxurious feeling royalty would have felt, when wearing our clothes. Seeing as the fashion industry is the second largest polluter in the world, at -bl^nk- we make a conscious effort to recycle our beads. From season to season, our talented craftsmen use the wide range of beads we keep stored to develop eloquent beading work designs to fit in with the trends featured in the collections.

She shows us that you can wear what you want no matter who you are and what you do in life; "you don't have to adopt a Mother Teresa aesthetic to do meaningful work in this world" she once said when speaking about her bold and bright dress choice. -bl^nk- are enchanted by her gleeful yet classy style and will be closely following her inspiring work projects into the new year.

Introducing our new pre-ss17 collection, which is available in stores now. From dazzling beading work to luxurious velvets, -bl^nk- are happy to present to you the perfect pieces for this festive season.

Using vegan leather at -bl^nk-

At bl^nk we are one of the growing numbers of brands that make a conscious decision to use vegan leather in replacement of real leather for our bags, accessories and outerwear trimmings, alongside trying to stick to only using natural or synthetic fibers (cotton/viscose) in our collections. 
As well as making our own decision to not use real leather, a lot of the workers in our factory are vegetarian and do not agree with using animal products, we respect their wishes and only use vegan leather and faux fur if needed for our designs. 
Each year more than 1 billion cows, sheep, pigs, goats and even dogs and cats in some parts of the world are slaughtered for their skin in vulgar conditions, so we are proud to provide consumers with a more humane option. 
This also give us unlimited choice of colour and texture for our collection. Overtime, the technology has very much evolved and vegan leather now has properties that overcome natural leather (such as being light, waterproof and aging very well) in addition to the guilt free feeling!
